Have you ever purchased something of been given a gift and thought, “this is genius, why has no one ever told me about this before now?” It happens to me so often that I wonder how I’ve ever lived without a few items. Once of those nifty little thingamibobs was my iphone, a device that I now can’t live without. I was in a meeting this morning and we were discussing how, for us, the iphone has replaces many things that just 10 years ago, we had to carry with us, calculator, diary, phone, notepad and camera and that’s only the basics.
When it comes to spending, hubby and I put everything on credit cards, this is for no other reason than we know there’s always dollars available on the credit cards so no embarrassing “oops, the money has gone’ moments and they’re paid off semi-regularly and as long as we’re not spending more than we can afford, it works. One of the benefits of doing this is the accumulation of credit card points (thanks to Qantas’ sneaky deal with Woolworths recently, we can no longer accumulate ff points on one of our cards because we only have a Coles in our area – insert anger here).
I only discovered how many points I had accumulated a few years ago at a very timely stage of life. I was furnishing our house and managed to deck out our entire house with items from the points we accumulated, they included; microwave, toaster, kettle, cutlery, vacuum cleaner, pots & pans, electric blankets, normal blankets, cappuccino machine and our trusty bread maker. Since we’ve had that bread maker and friends have gobbled up fresh bread at our place all stating “wow, I didn’t know these things made such great bread”. I think as a demo appliance, we’ve sold Sunbeam breadmakers as a must have to all our friends (go get one, they’re FAB!)
Most recently at Christmas, hubby and I decided not to buy each other pressies as it was all too difficult but I did redeem 2 things from our points program that have turned out to be the best thing I’ve ever not really purchased. It was only through a recent dentist visit where I complained to friends that I could never get my teeth clean enough that a few secretive friends told me about the Oral-B Truimph 5000 Wireless Smartguide electric toothbrush. Seriously, life changing. Yes, I’m obsessed with teeth and cleaning my teeth but that said, am still wondering why no one told me to get an electric toothbrush earlier than now? Felt like I’ve been missing out on something that only a secret club of white teeth owning people belong to!
I rarely go on about something as much as I have about this toothbrush. It’s electric and it has a timer on the toothbrush that indicates when you need to brush a different part of your teeth. There’s also a smartguide indicator that you put on your bathroom mirror to show you which quadrant of your teeth to be brushing and for how long and if you put too much pressure on the toothbrush, it tells you as well. I can’t tell more people about the wonders of this toothbrush and whilst it’s expensive (RRP:$199) I found a few online for $169 (Click HERE) Similarly, check on your credit card points, you may just have enough points to get yourself one!
Anyway, if you’re looking for his or her or him and her birthday presents, I can assure you that whilst it’s not the most luxurious or attractive gift to give someone, it’s most certainly the most practical and useful!
